Global Atlantic Investment Internship Info

Has anyone on here heard of Global Atlantic Financial Group? I recently saw a posting for their 2019 Summer Investment Analyst position—seems interesting. It says that their firm has over $50bn AUM. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Hey, a close friend of mine interned there in the past who spoke very highly of the company so I can help out with some info. As joey joe joe was alluding to, Global Atlantic began at Goldman Sachs around 2004 as their reinsurance group but separated as an independent company around 2013 or so. Now the company has grown into a life insurance and annuity company with over $50+ billion in assets.

GA’s investment office is definitely a great spot if you can secure an internship. The investment team is mostly comprised of people who came from top-tier investment banks, PE firms, and hedge funds--with a lot of the executives having come over from Goldman. It’s a buy-side internship at the end of the day, and you’d be working alongside the people investing on behalf of the insurance company.

I believe the summer is structured as a 10-week rotational program that’s split-up between two or three different teams. A couple of the groups I’ve heard about were credit, reinsurance and specialty finance, but I’m sure there are others. Since it’s a smaller company you’re given real, meaningful work. He worked on valuation / securitization models for his team, participated in meetings for live deals and interacted with various executives for a number of different projects.

I’d be happy to reach out to my contact for more info if there’s anything in particular you’d like to know about.
