How do I get into Asset Management? Feel like I screwed up in uni and now I'm far behind my peers.

Quick profile: current 4th year student in Canada, 3.5 GPA, 0-1 Finance but not AM internships by graduation (waiting on response from potential employer for Fall internship in Oil + Gas), CFA L1 in August. Biggest connection I could leverage is a previous mentor, an MD at Morgan Stanley, although I don't think I could get in there considering the competition.

I'm very interested in the analytical side of finance (think CFA stuff) and an introvert by nature. I would be fine with more client-facing roles but honestly I have mild autism and socializing is very difficult for me which is why I think I'm a better fit for the numbers.

I'm asking for a roadmap - I know I don't have the most stacked resume but I'm willing to start at the bottom. My current plan is small shop wealth management for a bit, then try to move into research or other entry level AM role. Long-term would love to be in portfolio management

I know I screwed up by not taking advantage of the opportunities I had early on. What can I do now to position myself for success?
