How long till PM?

Hi all,

I recently got a permanent role in AM - after two rounds of internships. During my conversation with my boss he was talking about an accelerated path to PM. Bearing in mind this is Fixed Income in London, he was talking about a timeline of 12-18 months to being a PM. I thought that it was more like 5-6 years!

Im not bragging and to be honest I'm not even a great analyst - think small mistakes everywhere. Calling myself PM by 22 must be a mad ego-trip but is my boss just trying to butter me up to sign the contract (currently v. Understaffed) on the cheap?

Is this timeline normal or am I being sold a dream?
