How to transfer to asset management from a wealth management internship internally?

I have a SA26 position in wealth management and I want to move into their asset management division for full-time if possible. How should I go about doing this?

Here is my plan as of now: Right now my focus is on networking with people in the AM division at the company I will be interning at until my internship starts. I'm hoping that I will develop good enough relationships where I can then use those connections to really learn more in person while I'm doing my internship.

My question is how should I bring up wanting to change to the AM division even though I am already doing an internship in wealth. Do I wait until I see if I get a return offer from wealth and then bring it up or should I make my intentions clear off the start. I'd assume I'd probably have to interview for it as a FT offer and do that whole process, but I'm hoping it will be a little bit more streamlined.

Just looking for advice/things I should take into account. Also, if you have done something similar, I'm curious to hear your experience.
