Moving from Asset Management to Sales and Trading

I know this has briefly been touched on before in the forum but not as specifically as this.

I would like to know whether if I was to take on a graduate AM position in the FO would it put me in a decent position (if I so desired) to perhaps move into S&T, particularly Sales, within a BB? or are they too far apart in terms of what each job requires

when I say move into, I dont mean straight away, I mean after working in AM for several years and built up some experience

Why would you want to do that?

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

well Sales (or trading) is what I've always wanted to do since I was young

but an apportunity at AM was be presenting itself when I graduate

as far as I was aware, the pay is better in S&T at a BB, no?
