Multi-Asset Strategy --> Specific Asset Class.. Is it Doable?
Currently an analyst at a boutique working on a multi-asset strategy team. While its interesting to research and understand asset classes from a broad top-down perspective, I think I'm getting to the point where I'd like to branch out and specialize in a particular asset class (i.e. equity or credit). I still have limited experience under my belt (~1 yr on the job after graduating from a semi-target, and passing CFA L1 last June).
So my questions are: How doable is it do make this move, and would it warrant moving to the sell-side? Would it require me to re-brand myself by acquiring an MBA? How would potential employers view me?
Hi fintechman15, the silence is deafening, sorry about that.... Any of the threads below helpful?
No promises, but sometimes if we mention a user, they will share their wisdom: celtics2007 bennobenno RedBarron
Hope that helps.

Same question here…I'd like to specialise in a specific asset class. The broad based coverage ain't for me. I’m only 6 months in — wanna give it a full year but I’ve started chatting up equity PMs within the firm just to build some relationships.
