blackRock Multi-Asset Portfolio Strategies
Hey guys,
I have an interview with BlackRock for Multi-Asset Portfolio Strategies analyst position.
Many people posted information about AMG PAG FMG but I never seen people who had an interview wit MAPS
i read MAPS on BlackRock official website and it says that it's under portfolio management Group.
What can I expect from the interview? is it same as JP Morgan Asset Management - Global Multi Asst Strategies?
Sorry for bumping this thread, but this is something I'm very interested in.
Multi-Asset Fund Interview Question (Originally Posted: 02/20/2013)
Had an interview today, got provided a piece of paper and a pen for workings and assumptions.
Question - If you have a crystal ball that predicted that both a German Bond (Bund) and an S&P 500 index would both yield 5% over the next year and you had US$1,000,000 to invest, provide details and calculations for which financial instrument would you invest in.
What I thought: - if bond yields increased to 5% from todays yields, you would see a bubble bursting in bonds and money moving into equities. - If this was the case, if you invested 1 million into the bond at todays price, your bonds capital gain would be a loss if you decided to sell it in the secondary market. - If the S&P was crystal balled to yield at 5% at the same time at the bond yield %, you would expect that potentially there could be a cellular bull market in equities and thus, equities could run a lot further than 5%.
Anyway, any ideas on how to answer this question. hmmm
you would also have to take into account the currency impact - SP5 returns would be in USD and Bund would be in Euro. From here, you'd have to make some sort of speculation on where you see the currencies going. If the Bund yielded 5% meaning the price appreciated 5% and interest rates were dragged even lower, its likely the currency would depreciate with it
