Need help weighing buy side options
WSOers, I need your help.
I'm trying to break into the buyside. I have two options in front of me...
1) work for a trust fund where I do the asset research? the trust fund only has $1.8B AUM and none of the employees have wall street experience
2) work directly for the SVP and in close conjunction with our trust PM. the job will not have any investment research but I will learn from a wall street alum.
The first will have a lot more responsibility, but that may not necessarily be a great thing since I'm not well experienced.
The second is a responsibilty down grade but provides me the time to study for my CFA and Series 7, have better high finance connections, and clearer potential to takeover a developed portfolio in the midterm.
Please help. Decision needs to be made by Tuesday
Thanks!
Define wall street experience ? I think the first imho
She's had tenured success at Merrill as a bond trader and a lot of her clients are institutional funds.
I'd say 1 because you're getting investment research experience. Option 2 may not help in the way of contacts/SVP's contacts may not be able/willing to help you
I'm thinking the same. I just really liked the leadership at #2. But then again, I don't relaly know the leadership at the trust. Thanks for the input!
Why do you say none have wall st experience if they're managing 1.8bb in funds ?
