Public investing teams at alternatives houses - fixed income.
Keen to hear any insights you have into the public markets investing (fixed income) arms of alternatives/traditionally PE-focused firms - e.g. Blackstone, Apollo, KKR. Mainly looking for info on:
1. Culture - Hours vs somewhere like Fidelity/Wellington/Allianz/Amundi
2. Comp - is it the traditional long-only model of % of AUM paid to investment teams or is there carry? Any figures would be appreciated.
3. Upwards mobility - how common is the transition from Analyst to PM? Are external PMs hired into these firms?
4. Longevity - traditional LO has the benefit of taking a 1-2 year view on investments. Fixed Income in particular is mean reverting so one could say that if you under-perform this year, there is a decent chance of outperformance next year.
Any info is appreciated!
