Sophisticated Family Offices

I was wondering if anybody knows who are some of the most sophisticated players in the Family Office space. My dream job would be running my own family office (I'm not sure you can even call that a job) and I was wondering if there were any good examples of particularly sophisticated family offices out there. Off the top of my head I can think of the Bass brothers back in the day but I was wondering if you guys knew of any other people who mostly manage their own capital with a sophisticated strategy, particularly global macro.

Also, how would you go about getting a job at one of these places? Networking I'm assuming?

Curious about this as well, I think Anthony has a list here somewhere, but that was from wayyy back and I think he was selling it.

I have no experience on the matter but I think this will take serious networking GoodBread, would be pretty cool though.

LOL

Unfortunately not. I spent around 50 hours making this damn thing for zero reward. If you bought the list off of the original website it would cost $1000 bucks and a lot of the officers were dead ends or old. Mine is greatly reduced in price and has been cleaned of all the dead ends, plus I have added other ones to it. It also included foundations and sov wealth funds.

I will also include a list or RE PE firms.

Yeah dude, sharing is caring. C'mon.

I love that were busting your balls to publish this list but this is the same forum that goes ape shit over any form of handouts, people bitching about hardwork, etc.

How do you know we wont sell it for a profit? Haha.

Seriously though, how much do you want for it? If its reasonable I really wouldn't mind paying.

Actually, Chuck doesn't have a brother. Or were you talking about Bart and Jack? They were brothers. Anyway, I think Lily manages much of Chuck's estate now anyway. I would hardly call it a family office.

Bass brothers split into their own family offices / divided it up into different divisions etc I think (I know they had a real estate investment firm)... that's a good example of one sophisticated (or at least formerly sophisticated) operation. David Bonderman amongst others worked there...

The Pritzker family has a lot of different offices in VC, PE (fund of fund and direct), HF, etc.

Bass is Barbnet Investment Co.

Mount Vernon is Kenny Trout's.

BP Capital isn't a family office per se, as they have outside investors.

Due to the cost of running SFO's, many are going to an MFO model now (multi-family office).

To find names, google MFO or SFO conference and it will often show attendees, the name of the firm and whether they are SFO or MFO...the bigger challenge is finding out who the family is, as most/all do not name the office after the family.
