Taking Goldman Sachs IMD SA offer or potential Fidelity return offer

Hey guys - was recently introduced to WSO and could use some advice.

I just went through the recruiting process with GS IMD and received an offer in Fixed Income for next year's summer analyst program. I am excited for the opportunity although I am concerned about accepting an offer without knowing more about the position.

I start an internship with Fidelity in a few weeks, in FI research. Due to the timing of the recruiting season, I will need to accept the GS offer within my first week of work at Fidelity. In the past, Fidelity interns have been able to switch to equity and follow the Research Analyst path, which is something that I am interested in. However, receiving a return offer is not guaranteed, and I have an offer with GS on the table.

I could use some advice on whether to accept the GS offer and gain some experience at a different firm or decline and run the risk of not receiving a return offer at Fidelity. The role at GS is not in NY or SF and would not involve actual research from my understanding. My passion lies in investing and I hope to be a PM some day, which explains my hesitation in leaving Fidelity.

Appreciate any insight you guys may have.

I've read a couple of threads on reneging - seems like there is significant downside to it.

What are your thoughts on the risk-reward?
