unpaid interns get $$$ under the table

I'm a freshman and will be working unpaid at UBS PWM this summer. I'm wondering if anyone who was done unpaid freshman PWM internships ever got any money "under the table" as the saying goes. If not then this summer is really going to suck.

derivstradingYea when i did an unpaid internship i got minor compensation at the end that was labeled 'beer money'

Depends on a case by case basis, I think most people will cough up because you will be there everyday for no pay.

Would you mind sharing the dollar amount?

They may find a way to disburse money to you, as mentioned above 'transportation costs' or some other such helpful bullshit. When I interned for free, the company wouldn't let non employees into the building, so they signed me up for minumum wage so I could get a security clearance. BBs have the money, so talk to them......

Otherwise, IMO, working a part time job only adds to your credibility later on as it demonstrates your work ethic.

MoCoDude you were a fucking freshman giving out advice for the other monkeys? That's terrible
Good call.

Seriously, if anyone pulls this one off, I wish they would post it. The only thing sweeter would be getting paid by the gov't under the table for work done here....
