Does anyone have insight into the RE shops at PIMCO and KKR, I am currently weighing offers from both, looking for a comparison of cultures if anyone has insight.
I used to work at KKR and have friends who worked at PIMCO- definitely go with KKR. Culture isn’t warm and fuzzy but it’s not sharp elbowed, it’s collaborative, and it’s meritocratic. Great place to work. I only knew SF RE team but they were great
If you’re referring to PIMCO’s alternative investments RE division then I’d say go with PIMCO. Culture at PIMCO is group dependent but the PIMCO brand can carry you very far. Their alts division tripled in AUM this past year due to low yields so you’d be joining at a great time.
Goos insight re low yields. PIMCO is an ACTIVE asset mgr. They are in the business of looking for alpha. Their deep research strength gives them the ability to exhaustively search for opportunities across all asset classes throughout the world. Current rate environment has created a push to the alt world and they are taking a much deeper dive in search of alpha.
