WM -> AM Internal Pivot

Hi guys,

Need some advice on pivoting. Been networking and one of my alums said I should internally network and try to pivot that way. I am in one of my Large Cap banks biggest WM branches. I am more research oriented with my CFA Level 1 finished, and my advisors I work for understand that. I am at a point where I am just not loving what I do here, and would like to pivot to a research associate role in a big city. I have connections to reach out to internally, one even recommended to me by an alumni I've spoken with. Though I'm worried about how to speak to my current advisors about potentially leaving our team. And how do I best speak to those I network with about wanting to pivot without sounding rash or disrespectful. Any thoughts on this?
