Accenture MCDP vs Strategy
Does anyone know what the exact differences are between the two? I've been hearing that MCDP keeps you aligned to a vertical while Strategy is just Strategy across all verticals? Does this mean that someone in MCDP can be put on the same project as someone in Strategy?
You are correct.
This has been covered in some depth in previous threads. MCDP is an execution/process-focused role that generally focuses on a single vertical (e.g. CRM, Supply Chain, Financial Services). You may, however, start off as a generalists and have roles open to any field.
Accenture Strategy is a much smaller group that typically recruits from top schools and is usually (but not always) quite generalist. Their roles tend to be to come 'strategize' before the MCDP folks come in and 'execute' along with the SI folks.
You could be placed on similar projects with MCDP/Strategy mixes, but it has not been a common thing based on my experience. They are both great practice areas that I would recommend.
Does MCDP feed well into top b-schools?
Actually, MCDP will put you into an industry vertical such as resources, health and public service, financial services, etc. whereas Accenture strategy is cross-industry. Functional specialty (supply chain, finance, cross-functional, etc.) for both strategy and MCDP is determined by your project history. You may be assigned a functional specialty at the beginning, but it doesn't really have any weight when you get selected for a project.
Hi, Is it possible to apply for both of these practices at the same time at Accenture?
Yes
thanks!
