Break into Mgmt. Consulting - Late Arrival

TL;DR Sophomore aiming to pivot to consulting after going through IB process. Needs any advice on process and a few scattered questions.

Hi all,

As mentioned above I'm a college sophomore aiming to get a consulting gig for the summer of 2024. I previously applied to 50+ IB spots and had a couple of interviews, but had the heart to heart with myself and knew IB wasn't for me. Consequentially, I think my resume stacks up much better for management consulting than it does for IB, so that could've been foreshadowing of this switch.

I go to a liberal arts school where I study economics and data analytics, play on a varsity sport, and have a strong GPA. I'm also technically a diverse candidate, but none of the early diversity stuff fits my bill. I hold a few on-campus jobs, interned at a law firm last summer, and am interning with a rather large corporation in a strategy role this summer. My alumni are good, but there just aren't that many (think 0-3) at the MBBs, OW, or S& and the like. These are the firms I'm focusing my energy on, but understand to cast a wide net.

What is my best course of action to best situate myself in the application process, prepare for interviews, or just the role itself? I'm doing my research on the field, but would love insights from those who have been through or are going through the process as well. Also, wtf is a T2 firm? These acronyms make me feel dyslexic at times.

Anything will help!
