Deloitte Business Risk Consultant v. Accenture Strategy Analyst - which to accept

Hello all,

I am a senior at a public business school. I would say it is one of the strongest undergraduate targets in the Midwest.

Recently, I was offered two positions: one with Deloitte as a Business Risk Consultant and the other at Accenture in their Strategy practice. So I am very conflicted on what position to take. If I take the Business Risk role at Deloitte is there any way I could move to S&O? Also how do the exit options compare for both positions?

To be honest, I am worried that the role at Deloitte is not "pure strategy consulting" and is much more invested in their advisory and public accounting. However, is the Deloitte name worth the compromise in role design?

If you were me, which position would you take and why?

Thanks Monkeys for your help!

Hands down ACN strategy.

1. You will not move into S&O from Deloitte & Touche Advisory unless you marry a partner's daughter. Period.
2. ACN Strat is much more prestigious. Level of IQ much greater than Deloitte Advisory.
3. Business Risk in Deloitte Advisory is not management consulting.

This. I wouldn't say MUCH in statement #2, but when its time for you to move on, you are going to spend a lot of time explaining to others about how you weren't in S&O, because that's what people think of when they hear Deloitte + consulting. You aren't getting the advantage of the name if you aren't involved in the bread and butter of Deloitte (audit or S&O).
