Denver MBB Post MBA

I have been accepted to a top 10 MBA program in Chicago. Looking to pivot into consulting from Oil and Gas.

My family is predominantly from Denver, so I would like to try to get into a MBB office in Denver. Was curious what typed of industry the Denver offices are focused on, as well as how difficult it will be to get into the denver offices vs others. I can't find much information on people who have recruited into these two offices.

I believe Deloitte is strong in denver, so may focus on Tier 2 depending on how difficult it is to get into MBB Denver.

Thanks!

Each firm has a different staffing model. On one end you have Bain where you will pretty much exclusively be staffed with people from your office. This means you'll be segmented in an industry more relevant to your region. On the other end you have McKinsey, where they utilize a global staffing option so Denver would just be your home base and you can genuinely do whatever. BCG is somewhere in the middle.

In terms of the difficulty, non major hub locations (cities outside of NY, SF, BOS, CHI, etc) are easier to get in the sense that most top candidates are vying for the aforementioned hubs and so the caliber of applicants is lower (though still very high). That being said, because it's not a hub, there are fewer positions available which makes things tougher. Recruiters at MBB will claim these two factors cancel each other out, but most people know it's easier to recruit for Denver than it is for NY.
