Does having an M.D degree help in MBB?

I'm a U.S M.D that recently received a full-time offer from BCG through their Bridge to BCG program, also interviewing soon with McKinsey. For any physicians that joined MBB or MBBers that have worked with physicians on your team, do you feel that the M.D degree helps the person in any way (staffing, client credibility, etc.)?

A friend at McKinsey through the undergrad route told me that McK doesn't give a sh*t about your MD (they also hate MBB in general and think it's a pointless path that gives you no marketable skills along with shitty exits, but that's another story). However, I heard the opposite from people I talked to at BCG stating that having the MD degree has been helpful in getting them staffed on healthcare related projects. Just wanted to get people's opinions, thanks!

An MD isn’t going to really matter in terms of career progression or anything of that nature internally.

Where an MD can be beneficial is in giving you a far better understanding of your client’s business. If you get staffed on a bunch of healthcare company projects, that will give you an edge because you will at least know something about the medicine
