FT Recruiting Specifics

Struck out with IB recruiting for the most part and while I still have a few leads I've been increasingly looking at consulting. I've heard that FT recruiting for consulting is often easier than SA recruiting, is this true? What are some things I should if I do go down the consulting route? I'm used to needing to heavily network in IB, is networking as prevalent in consulting?

Traditionally, firms have more FT spots than they do SA spots - but not sure if that's changed/changing due to COVID. Still a very competitive process, nonetheless.

The main thing you should concentrate on is case prep. I'm assuming you're a junior, so you have more than enough time to prepare - you could get pretty good at casing in a few weeks if you concentrate. In saying that, it's not like investment banking where you're generally good to go on the technicals providing you can parrot back the basics of a DCF + some basic accounting questions. Every case you'll face in an interview will be unique, and your performance is to some extent subjective - there's no 'right' answer, although of course some answers are much better than others.

If you don't go to a semi-target/target, I would be prepared to do a fair bit of networking.
