Knowledge Analyst role at BCG

Hey all - does anyone have further background on the Knowledge Team / Knowledge Analyst role with BCG? Appears to be backoffice/supporting the client team, but are there opportunities for advancement within the firm? Has anyone heard of people from this group joining the consulting practice? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Recently talked to friends at BCG about this... From this I'd say you are right it is a supporting role. You would usually support case team with industry knowledge, market analysis or protrietary tools. You can advance on this track and become team manager where you would then lead a team of knowledge analysts for a certain topic. Permeability from knowledge analyst role to consulting seems to be very limited (if any). What is more common is to go the other way arround i.e. from consulting to the knowledge role.

In general, switching from KT to consulting (or vice versa) is rare and not perceived as an easier or significant consulting recruiting pool.

If you want to be a consultant apply for consulting jobs.

That being said, there are anecdotes of staff switching from KT to consulting and even back to more senior KT roles.

I see. thanks for the feedbacks guys. Anyone knows the exit opportunity for this role? (in terms of MBA prospects, or potentially going into sell-side research, etc)

a little background about why I'm asking: I'm currently in the MO of a top tier IB and was offered this supporting role in MBB. Given that I was really tired of my current role and determined to get into a top MBA program in few years time. I thought this opportunity can give my resume a different competitive edge. What are your thoughts this? Thanks again!
