Recruiting for MBB As A Recent Graduate

Hi everyone,

I am a recent graduate of an Ivy in the US (May 2024). I will be beginning work at a coverage group in a top investment bank in a couple months, but was hoping to recruit for consulting and did not find the time to apply last year for full time roles.

Now that I have graduated, what is the best time to apply for MBB roles? Should I be applying through campus recruitment or do I apply as an experienced candidate, assuming I will have around 1 year of experience in banking if I were to receive an offer?

I appreciate any and all advice.

Asked a similar question coming as a fresh grad starting at a HF — didn’t receive much helpful advice. I’m asking the same questions as you as it seems to be very confusing how it works for people who are “experienced” in the sense that you’re no longer a campus applicant but at the same time aren’t “experienced” bc you just graduated 1 year ago.

Let me know if you get any good advice from someone knowledgable on this. I have heard from some that it might be better to reach out to campus recruiters to ask about whether we are eligable to still be campus applicants or not.

Really? Also let me know if you’re down to pm and chat ab this in general. Most everyone I talk to tries to convince me against switching saying I have a “too rosy” view of MBB similar to the responses you’re getting in the other thread you made.

Do not have any new knowledge on this at the moment. Only instances of lateraling this early I have seen was during 21/22 when MBB had a big hiring spree. Hoping someone will have more info on the situation we are in.

Or another hiring spree like that. But don’t see that happening until rate cuts which as I’m sure you’ve seen the news are even more unlikely with recent jobs data lmao
