going from B4 to corporate finance??

I am working at a big4 doing auditing and am trying to do research into alternative career paths. I have a masters in Accounting and an undergrad degree in Finance from a ~T30 school, so not super recruited from but fairly well known. I should have my CPA done within the next year or so. I am interested in pivoting and doing corporate finance at a fashion company because I have always been interested in that sector and almost went into merchandising. Other than finishing the CPA what else should i do to make myself competitive? do i need to network at all or is this the type of job I can just apply for?

I’m looking to make a similar move but as an internal transfer. From what I see on our job board (F10 company), they like accounting experience and the CPA. I think you could just apply. Networking helps of course.

Be able to speak to how you can go after people and extract information (which you should be able to from audit background) as well as how well you can articulate info (forecasts and even historical numbers) to the C Suite and management. There are certain shops that require intensive modeling skills or/and SQL skills which 95% of auditors fail cuz they dont know jack shit (not that they should but they just dont, and they fail to admit or even recognize it) but not all companies are like that. I recently hired a B4 experienced auditor as an analyst in my CF team at a major investment manager and we extended interviews to many B4 auditors
