Are Fed Internships Good for Macro Research Roles at BB or Firms like Susquehanna?

Hi, I'm currently a sophomore at a non-target university and recently got an internship at one of the top feds (think Boston, NYC, SF). I actually was hoping for a banking internship or in AM/PE (open to anything really) but as luck would have it I was only able to secure a position at a Federal Reserve. My fed is arguably one of the most important and I'm in a great department, now I'm wondering if an internship at the fed is any good (even if it's one of the top?) and would it help when recruiting for junior year internships in BB or companies like Susquehanna (SIG)? Would appreciate any thoughts!

P.S Sorry if it's not that relevant— wasn't sure which forum to post under.

(1) sounds like an awesome opportunity
(2) most sophomore summer jobs are at pretty whatever firms (yes I know some people get SM HF and other crazy ops), so I think being at one of the most important institutions in our country will be a great way to help you stand out.

In short, yes.

1.) if you go the traditional banking route or fundamental analysis will be a cool talking point but still prob have to get IBD/equity research etc next summer

2.) if you wan to go the macro route it will be a nice differentiator/talking point...but it will not be in lieu of coding/stem skills bc you wont be senior enough to be able to offer insight in to xyz policy functions etc
