Best middle market banks for an ER internship?
I’ve been doing a lot of internship applying to any opening I see online but a lot of them are for big investment banks which I feel is out of reach for me at the moment. What middle market banks or really any smaller firm would be best for a non-target school student like me for an ER internship?
Primarily, you work for the analyst. Secondarily, you work at the bank. Focus on analyst, not the bank.
How do you know which analysts are good? And do you mean looking at an individual person to work under or a team?
Individual person yes. The analyst runs a portable franchise - if a bank is not doing well or shutting down the ER department, the analyst can take his/her junior people and re-launch coverage at another bank. You work for the analyst first and foremost.
How to assess analyst: Every analyst is known and good at different things. You have to decide whether that good thing is beneficial for your career goal.
