Commercial Banking to Research
Hi everyone, I have been working commercial banking over the past year since undergrad but am looking to make a move into equity research. I didn't really know what I wanted to do out of college but have figured out better what I want in the past year. I have been networking with people both on the buy & sell side and have had some interviews on both sides. Despite that, I have found it hard for people to look past my resume in the final round even though I've gotten positive feedback from the interviewers many times. I am planning to take CFA level 1 in February but want to see if anyone has any other advice for ways to help me break into research. Thanks!
If you are not closing on the final rounds, that tells me you are not technically convincing enough. Something during the interview you are losing to your competitors. That can be your pitch, your technical or behavioral, hard to know without knowing you better.
Thanks Dick. I have an idea what the pitch is supposed to look like (intro, industry, thesis, risks) and how long it's supposed to be. What are the things that the interviewer wants to see in every pitch that I might be overlooking (multiples, too much/little focus on one area, etc)?
