Contacting analysts
Since the email addresses/phone numbers of analysts are published on their research reports, has anyone ever tried cold calling them? Has anyone tried this? Is it appropriate to do so if you are applying to be an associate on their coverage team?
Do not contact the Analyst! Analysts hardly have enough time to talk to their existing associates, let alone humour resume spam. Seriously, the majority of analysts day is spent on the phone talking with clients, visiting companies, or attending trade shows. I doubt you'll get a favourable response, especially if there is not current posting. If you have the contact info, either try contacting the Associate, or find out who the office manager is. There should always be one.
I don't see why not, just don't call the lead. Be aggressive.
calling the sr analyst is a terrible idea. you will pretty much be shot down right away.
Don't call - it just pisses us off. email can sometimes work but it better be a good one or it will just go straight in the trash.
You're not the first to think of this and you won't be the last. I used to get 2 emails a week asking for jobs or internships and I never followed up a single one.
