ER vs FICC

I'm an incoming junior at a non-target state school. I am an Econ and Stats major, and I would like to do research for a BB after I graduate. I know ER and FICC are different fields, but with respect to personalities are they really that different? Is there any kind of person who would qualify for ER but not for FICC or vice versa?

PS: I would love to read ER reports on my own, but I couldn't find any on the web. Is there anyway I can read some of these reports without having access to a Bloomberg?
