How Easy Is it to Regain SS ER Seat After Moving To Buyside?

Seen someone go from SS ER VP AT BB to Analyst at Citadel --> Director at ER BB

Do you have stories on how difficult it is to regain your seat or get back into ER if you decide you can't hack it at an HF?

I'm sure naive prospects will laugh at this idea, but if you realize that grass isn't always greener, is it that terrible of an option?

Typically some buyside experience will make you more attractive on the sell-side. Clients like talking to people who have a better understanding of what it means to manage a book. Banks think it adds to the pedigree of the coverage group. So I don't think it would be too difficult, however it always depends on availability. If no seat is open in your coverage space, no one is going to fire their current guys to make room for you.
