London ER recruiters
Hi all
Looking to make the jump from B4 to sell-side Equity Research within the next year.
For quick context of my background, I’ve got 1.5 years of experience in B4 Deal Advisory (FDD), and 2 years in Audit. I also have ACA and CFA qualifications.
I’m struggling with direct applications and was wondering if anyone knows any recruiters for Research in London? I’m aware of Greenwich partners but was wondering if there were any more. Thanks!
I'm at a BB, we do all our hiring direct.
In my experience it's the same with strong MMs like Jeff.
The only headhunter who's ever reached out to me for sell side roles is Greenwich. I'm pretty sure it was also for a BB.
Being so for real I havent seen anyone being hired from B4 in a while unless there's a real need for their sector expertise. Like for niche sectors. Otherwise there are so many heads out there rn given stuff like HSBC killing off ER, CS, Berenberg perpetually making people unhappy. And then there's AI - this is undoubtedly impacting hiring decisions.
Networking can help - with management, with sector heads. ER recruitment is really just a lot about laying a foundation, making sure your name is out there, and just waiting for a spot. It can take a long time - I'm fairly sure right now we are not hiring anyone.

Sounds like ER probably isn't the best route to pursue these days. Recruiters also send me 1 ER role every 4 months, given the lack of headcount in this seemingly 'declining industry'.
I'll take your advice on ER networking and broaden my search to other roles like credit research, IB (unfortunately), and frankly, anywhere in finance that will take someone from B4, lol. Thanks
