Political Internship -> ER

So I am currently a sophomore, and had my prospective finance internship get cancelled due to COVID. I was approached with the opportunity to intern on a political campaign this summer and was wondering how this would look for research? It would offer me some soft skills with writing and communication, and to keep up with the current political/economics atmosphere. Obviously not the ideal situation, but could be a decent alternative to doing nothing... and keep following the markets and learning the finance on my own on the side
