Thoughts on Retail Sector?

Looking at a bit of a career swap out of my sector into retail ER

Does anyone have good ideas on getting started, primers, and the sector overall - how are hours like etc.

I would have originally imagined hours to be a bit more on the lenient side considering this. Also I'm less of a macro oriented person so how would this play into coverage?

Any and all comments would be appreciated.
