When does ER make sense?
Asking specifically for L/S exits, when does taking up an ER grad offer make sense?
I interned in BB ER this summer but will be going to one of the platform hedge funds full-time via their training program (Citadel Associate Programme etc) and was curious if ER is a better training ground under specific circumstances (and specific analysts).
Specifically, if you're interested in something more specialised like biotech, pharmaceuticals, FIG, etc. Not sure if the accelerated undergrad training programs at the MMHF's equip you with the skillset for some sectors?
If you’re interested in L/S HF and have an offer at one of the MM HF programs, do not consider SS ER. You already have the opportunity to join the best training program. Don’t over think this, congrats and good luck!
Agreed. Not sure why that would even be debated
Any HF is a better training ground than ER in my experience. You get to do real due diligence. In ER you’re a lot of time a glorified journalist.
You could always go from HF to sell-side. It is harder to go from sell-side to HF. Overthinking this.
Can I ask what else your background was other than BB ER internship? Target or not? Other experience etc? Would like to follow in same path and have ER internship next summer.
