Why Would a Prop Trading Firm Want Me to do ER?

I applied for an ER internship at a prop trading firm. They want to hire me to write articles for a third party website and they claim I will have a professional staff to guide me through the process. I'm just a little confused why a prop trading firm would have an incentive to do something like this. I'm also confused why their response to my application sounded more like an offer than an invitation to an interview.

I'm still considering taking it just to improve my resume. It's over the Spring semester and it's part time, so all I would have to do is drop my music class, which I'm struggling to pass anyway, when it should be an easy A course.

I'm thinking fuck my music class, take the internship, and take art history some other semester.

Would taking this internship increase my odds of getting a more legit ER internship in the future?

I'm always weirded out and cautious when it looks like you're more interviewing them than they're interviewing you... However, if you do have free time and you think it could help you fill you resume, then you should go for it. Most of the time, it's better to have a job, even shitty, than no job... Also, think about the fact that you'll be able to read ER reports, see how they're structured and improve your writting skills.

And if it turns out really sketchy, you can still quit with no consequences

sounds like they're trying to improve their search engine results and have their website rank higher in google. also sounds like they are glad that you're interested and they probably want you more than you want them, they're just looking for any warm body to do this ( i know because i owned an internet company and looked for interns to do the same thing)

nothing wrong with it, especially if you end up writing some good articles. you could end up learning a lot and have some "publication" to point to
