Ideal height and weight to clean up with girls at bars/clubs?

A few of us were discussing this in our pod, for reference we're all WASPy preppy guys that did varsity sports (rugby/crew/lacrosse) in undergrad.

A couple of us said that the height range that does the best on nights out is 6'5-6'7, where you're tall enough to look downright dominant and menacing in a crowded room, while not being too tall to the point of being a freakshow. At 6'5-6'7, you're most likely the tallest in a relatively busy bar or dance floor of 150-200 people, while having a good frame and proportions to put on muscle mass. You can easily get to 280lb at under 15% bodyfat without PEDs or sacrificing flexibility/aesthetics.

One guy said that unless you're planning on attracting girls with a height fetish, the best height is 6'3ish as long as you have a good face and athletic build.

Another guy said that the bigger the better, you should stand out even in a NBA/NFL locker room (6'10+, 350lb+).

Personally, I think the ideal height and weight would be a solid 6'7 and 300lb, this is the cutoff where you'll intimidate 99% of drunk guys trying to fight you, as well as bully the bouncers who are typically in the 6'3-6'5 range.

In the rare event that you get in a fight with a NFL/NBA athlete, you'll be able to hold your own as well, given the NBA average is 6'6 245lb and the NFL average is 6'2 245lb. NFL linemen might give you a bit of trouble though, as they average 6'4 280lb. This is statistically unlikely given that there's only around active 300 NFL linemen in the country.

You might also have a bit of trouble if larger heavyweight UFC fighters or boxers try to fight you, since they go up to 265lb, so you only have a 35lb weight advantage which doesn't offset a sizeable skill gap. You should be able to dominate LHW and below fighters due to the sheer weight and height discrepancy though.

Based on previous WSO threads, here's a summary of the discussion around height and weight for attracting girls at bars/clubs:

  1. Height Range:

    • 6'5"-6'7": This height is considered ideal for standing out in a crowded room, appearing dominant without being excessively tall. It allows for a good frame to put on muscle mass and maintain aesthetics.
    • 6'3": Another perspective suggests that this height, combined with a good face and athletic build, is optimal unless targeting girls with a height fetish.
    • 6'10"+: Some argue that being exceptionally tall (like an NBA/NFL player) can make you stand out even more, but this might be excessive for typical social settings.
  2. Weight Considerations:

    • 280lb at under 15% bodyfat: This weight is achievable without performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) and maintains flexibility and aesthetics.
    • 300lb: This weight is suggested as a cutoff for intimidating most drunk guys and bouncers, while still being manageable in social settings.
  3. Other Factors:

    • Athletic Build: Regardless of height, having an athletic build is crucial.
    • Face and Proportions: A good face and well-proportioned body are important for overall attractiveness.
  4. Practical Considerations:

    • Intimidation Factor: Being taller and heavier can help in avoiding fights and intimidating potential aggressors.
    • Skill Gap in Fights: While size can be an advantage, skill gaps (e.g., with trained fighters) can offset the benefits of height and weight.

In summary, while opinions vary, a height of around 6'5"-6'7" and a weight of 280-300lb with a low body fat percentage is often considered ideal for standing out and attracting attention in social settings like bars and clubs.

How tall were your friends in this situation and how good are they with women? As a tall dude who cleaned up at bars in his single days, definitely have some thoughts on this.

  • Frame/Weight/Build (aka muscle with low body fat) is almost as important as height. If you are a 6'6 jack sellington or high bf% power lifter build then you wont be pulling (at least not the hot ones anyways)
  • 'Bigger is better' is absolutely not true. Returns on height depreciate significantly. Starting at 6'5+ you enter circus freak show territory. 6'7+ and you're basically an alien. Sure in your mind you picture yourself being that height and built like an NFL player with a handsome face but all things equal you likely have a unaesthetic build with weird proportions. Contrary to what your manlet friends believe, it is exceptionally difficult to put on muscle and build out a good frame the taller you get. Women do not flock to a  guy that is 250lbs+ lol. Even if you are 6'7 and jacked at that point you are attracting fetish girls
  • The taller you get, the harder conversing at a bar becomes. Especially with women (who are shorter), especially with music and noise, etc. You are bending over crane neck all the time, it isnt a good look.
  • Clothing, sports, and overall proportions, are ideal at 6'1-6'2. This is the ideal height range for men. You can pick up most sports, you are typically one of the taller guys in the room, clothes fits well, easy to put on muscle, you are tall but not in a way that every person starts their conversation with "wow you are tall" etc.. Anything taller and your clothes likely fit worse, frame is lankier, movements seem weirder, etc.

In reality this question should be two parts. What is best height, and what is ideal build. If you can wave a wand and be 6'5 , lean, jacked, 230-240, head full of hair, handsome and approachable face, good jawline, etc. then sure. But that requires a lot of other things to go well besides your build. Make that guy bald and he is probably scaring more chicks than bringing home. Overall the best all around build for women, and life, is ~6'2 and ~210lbs or so lean

As a 6'2 210lbs lean guy, thank you. I will be sure to show girls at the bar this comment next time I am trying to spit game - maybe they will like me more then

learn to be more confident in yourself and not ashamed in your masculinity and you might actually get laid more often

I personally think that 7'11" is the ideal height as when the chick leaves in the morning your catch phrase could be "thank you, come again."

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Obviously, this is a troll post.  To get girls you need to be good looking, personable or both.  When you are young, the good looking part is the most important aspect.  If you are 5'11 and very good looking, you are going to get way more girls than if you are 6'4 and average looking.  There is not much of a natural fix for ugly.
