2 years in L/S Equity & Credit. What is next?

Hello Monkeys. I am an analyst at a credit HF investing in high-yield credit and long/short equities in a niche vertical of a specific sector. My firm is facing outflows and some personnel changes lately and my new boss has no idea what's going on (not covering the same strategy/sector). The upside of my current role is the freedom (basically hands-off) and I do not have significant P&L responsibilities and can use my time to ramp up new names and new verticals in my sector. Pay is meh and below market (think 125k base + 50% bonus). I plan to move as long as there's something good out there.

Having a few questions:

Is it better to focus on one asset class (corporate credit or L/S equity) in the next stage of my career (3 YOE, 2 years in my current firm)?

I like my current sector and plan to be a specialist. Are there lots of credit funds hiring sector specialists? My observation is that most HY credit research roles are cross-sectors/generalist in nature.

How should I approach recruiting in credit funds? I do not see lots of opportunities in the credit world vs. the abundance of L/S equity associate roles at MM out there.

How good do I need to be as an investment professional with 2 year HF experience to be competitive in the job market?

Thanks!
