Anyone has any inside on Arena Investors? Specifically the london office?
$4bn credit fund based in the US & UK
Shahid head of publics (mostly credit)
Coverage: 65% US 30% Europe 5% Asia
Mandate: It’s a super flexible mandate, they’ll do absolutely everything across the capital structure. The team invests in publicly traded bank loans, bonds, convertibles, preferred shares, and common equities. Global stressed and distressed investing.
Very lean team doing more liquid investing with stressed and distressed. They’ll look at anything (can also do private).
Thoughts on comp, work and culture?
Comp blows, laying off whoever they can right now, and you can look at Westaim investor presentations to see how much $ Arena really makes (not a lot).

I was checking their IP and they have a gross 17% IRR (underwritten), 8.1% current. Have no experience in this field, but does not seem that bad?

Funds have been underperforming (check the quarterly 13fs for confirmation of drop in aum) and note that this is a private credit shop at the end of the day. Word on the street is that the credit publics side has been winding down in favor of solely PIPE investments (which is basically private credit just in public companies). Very niche skill set but if that’s something of interest, could be a good spot but don’t expect market comp.
