Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about the interview process at BAM (likely referring to BAML - Bank of America Merrill Lynch) for the analyst program:

  1. Interview Process Overview:

    • After the model test, the process typically involves behavioral and technical interviews.
    • Behavioral questions focus on situational responses, such as "What would you do in X situation?" These are reviewed by senior managers rather than HR or AI systems, making it crucial to present thoughtful and structured answers.
  2. Stock Pitch:

    • While the context does not explicitly confirm whether a stock pitch is required for BAML interviews, stock pitches are a common component in bulge bracket (BB) interviews. Preparing a concise and well-researched stock pitch is advisable, as it demonstrates your analytical and presentation skills.
  3. Preparation Tips:

    • Behavioral Questions: Practice answering situational questions with the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Focus on showcasing teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
    • Technical Skills: Brush up on financial modeling, valuation techniques (DCF, Comps, etc.), and accounting principles. The WSO Elite Modeling Package and IB Interview Course are excellent resources for mastering these areas.
    • Stock Pitch: If required, ensure your pitch includes a clear thesis, valuation metrics, and a well-supported recommendation (buy/sell/hold). Use templates like the WSO Stock Pitch Template for guidance.
  4. Additional Notes:

    • The video interview stage is often behavioral and takes about 15 minutes. It’s important to be concise and articulate.
    • Senior managers reviewing your responses means you should focus on clarity, professionalism, and demonstrating your fit for the role.

For further preparation, consider leveraging resources like the WSO IB Interview Course, which includes thousands of technical and behavioral questions, or the WSO Elite Modeling Package for financial modeling mastery.

It’s weird to have a case study before those IQ tests. Where did you fail you think? Can you crush the case study but dinged on the last round with the head of research? I just had my case study for a senior asso position, so I’m curious.

This is tough, sorry to hear that. In this gig, once you passed the PM itw and case study your odds are really high. But probably another strong candidate in the process.

Good luck

Bummer :( was this an in person, timed case study or take home? What exactly did they ask from you for that?
