Buy-side structured products research (RMBS/ABS/CLOs) - exit opps and career advancement?
Just landed a structured products research role at a $1-4bn AUM credit shop. Focus will be on credit/prepayment modeling and market research to directly support relative-value traders. My manager was a mortgage person so MBS will likely be a big focus.
Any idea what people in similar roles move on to after ~3-5 years? I have ~2 years of experience on the buy-side doing quantitative research, and a BA in Statistics/Economics.
