Comp Breakdown
Say, your all in is 300k. How does it normally break down between base and bonus? Any insights would be appreciated.

Career Resources
It will all depend. At the more junior levels (which is that comp level) a reasonable assumption is about 50/50 (with sometimes more on the bonus). This can be pretty firm dependent, smaller firms (and if you have more direct ties to the PnL) might be as high as 2/3 bonus, but 50/50 is what I’ve seen.
This shift more towards bonus/equity the more senior you become.
There are many funds that more-or-less stop increasing base salary at ~$150k for anyone who is not very senior; all incremental income comes in the form of bonus. Thus, someone who is a few years into their buyside career and makes ~$300k would likely be around 50/50 base/bonus, as a prior poster noted. But if, say, 2 years later that same person made $450k, the split would be more like 33/67 base/bonus.
