How does compensation scale YoY at MMs?
Anecdotally, how have you seen comp range at MMs with each level of seniority/year of experience? I understand it varies quite a bit, but any general ranges would be helpful. I know it starts off around $200-250k all in first-year out of undergrad, but not too much knowledge on how it scales from there.
I am also curious.
If no PnL linkage, you top out at 400-500k. After that, you need to contribute +vely to PnL. And ofcourse if your team makes 0 PnL , you get 0 or minimal bonus.
The range here is massively wide depending on group performance/perception of your contribution. If you get a direct PL linkage (usually "Senior Analyst" title) the upside becomes much larger.
If you have a negative year on a group basis expect to get 0 if PM has not been around long enough to pay you from their deferred. In typical years I've seen PMs pay up to 10-15% of their bonus pool to successful analysts who were key parts of the process (so can be ~1-2mm in a good year).
