Transitioning from a LO fund
Had a convo with a recruiter this week, told me the chances of an analyst transitioning from LO to L/S was slim to none. For context I joined a midsized house straight out of uni and have been covering the healthcare and chemicals sectors for them for the past 4 years, I keep a track record of my recommendations. Shorts have a good hit rate and sharpe ratio, my longs are pretty average. Kind of coming to the realisation I might have wasted some prime years at a substandard fund and made myself unmarketable to a lot of funds out there. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
Plenty of people make the transition (esp. if you are younger and have some sector expertise that could be applicable at a multi-manager) - ignore this idiot recruiter
Don't think it would be a problem.
Nonsense.
This recruiter you spoke to is not good at their job lol
False. You have plenty of opportunity to go to a MM pod shop if you want. They are always recruiting.
Btw … Not that It matters, but when you mean shorts you mean sell recs that have generated alpha?
So the shorts you've pitched at your "Long only" have done well? #REF!
