Investing in 2022 - Need Ideas
With now around 7 rate hikes priced in the stock market, what sectors or geographies are you allocating to in your PA's? Sell-side research seems to agree that emerging markets cheap which I agree with and am adding there... bringing my PA to about 45% international. I will also be putting a decent chunk in private RE.
U.S. valuations especially in R1000/Nasdaq still seem absurd to me and I believe in active management even in efficient markets. I think this beta rally climate is over and you need to find good stock pickers going forward.
Any good ideas in a high inflation, rising rate environment? Would love some specific products (prob not leveraged ETFs).
What do you mean by emerging markets? You need to be more precise, EM is basically everything outside of the West. That's not very helpful to buy stocks on a mere geographical basis, it's more relevant to look at promising industries and then determine the geographic area where their growth is more likely to stem from.
Mostly Asian mkts… India, some China, Taiwan, SK, Indonesia, etc
I’m focusing on small/micro cap value
I like small caps too… Marcus Frampton is the CIO of alaska permanent and he publishes a micro cap newsletter. I get some good ideas from his stuff … mostly in niche sectors that I don’t know anything abt.

what are you using for private RE, your own/syndicated deals?
I have 0 network in RE and not a ton of capital so would rather get in a fund. Considering a Fundrise Fund. Let me know if you have suggestions.
What do you use for uranium exposure?
He has it delivered to his front door
For pure exposure to the price of uranium, there's Yellow Cake listed on the London Stock Exchange. It's an investment company that literally just buys & holds uranium.
$BTU
this is a really good one NGL
In 2022 I'm going to continue my foray into active investing, particularly with options. At worst it's a fun hobby and I like all the numbers/probability associated with it. I use a straightforward approach around IV and Theta.
Having said that, I am a little skewed towards $GLD. How that has been basically range-bound for the length of the pandemic is beyond me. Planning to do a lot around it in 2022.
Because nobody gives a shit about your shiny metal unironically
US stock market will be bearish for a long time. Too many retail investors from all over the world piled on Gamestop when they have never even invested in the US before. The downside risk for US is too high
Emerging markets (Malaysia/Philliphines/Thailand)
Basically all in on tobacco. Although I bought before they ran up. Currently yielding probably about 7.5%
Dollar-cost average riding the TQQQ train all the way down
Funny how people will shit on it, but literally TQQQ is probably the best bet right now
why do you think that? I'd like to add more (probably via the HFEA), but that seems risky to me with the projected rate rises.
Priced in. Can't make market decisions off headlines...by that point it's too late...markets move on the forward looking narrative. I'm sure you know this.
You want to buy low and sell high, not vice versa. If this macro environment is punishing TQQQ, that's exactly when you want to start slowly averaging in.
