1Y RX Analyst - WFH/Holiday policies

Hi guys! I'm a first year analyst at a pretty good RX shop in NYC. I am very grateful for this job, but I also know that I will be 100% leaving high finance after my two years (will be looking at something in Corp Dev/Strategy/investor relations maybe). I am learning a lot, but I seriously just do not give a fuck about face time and corporate politics, especially since the least they can do is cut my bonus (which honestly whatever). I just think there is so much more life, and I am happy to prioritize my health/family/bf/friends over this job at times. Though, obviously, I don't want to get fired or be hated by everyone here.

For context, my group is 5 days in the office, and there are no formalized protected weekends/holidays. What is an acceptable amount of time to take off in your first year? ie. Can I take a WFH friday 2 months into the job/can I book tickets to go home for Thanksgiving?

Sounds like you’re already checked out a bit. If this attitude is permeating through your work product and you ask for leniency as a first year it may frustrate some people in your team. Some groups are chill abt WFH week of thanksgiving / Christmas but just do what your fellow analysts are doing is a good rule of thumb. You can only set the bar if you are a top performer where people won’t care and that’s hard to do this early into your stint.

Lateral to EVR RX. 3 days in office, everyone WFH around holidays, all analysts encouraged to use their PTO during their first year and/or travel during 2 weeks of WFA in August
