3.16 Semi-target

Hey guys, this post is inspired by another one on here. My goal is to recruit for Healthcare/Biotech IB.

I'm a sophomore. I completely threw my first year/last semester due to a slew of personal issues, and like the other user, I understand how intimidating it is to recruit for BB IB while already on the back foot. However, I'm trying my best to take a proactive approach to this:

I've applied to ~25 IB/PE/VC Internships for summer 2026. To say the least, I don't expect to hear back from any of them. I read the other thread, and am considering implementing many suggestions into my overall career strategy. I would like to add, however, that my projected cum GPA will be 3.4 next semester and 3.5 the semester after that (junior fall). I know I might be cooked, but I'm ready to work my butt off to be "uncooked". If you guys have any advice, please let me know!

Some more details

  • high interest in biotech/healthcare related finance esp from a young age
  • double majoring so I can potentially extend my stay

Don't do the CFA. You need to focus on your grades, not a financial certification that means nothing to most banks and bankers. You're not "cooked" so to say, but you're definitely not getting those elite BB or EB spots most likely. Your best bet is smaller boutique shops or MM banks with lower barriers to entry and less streamlined recruiting where networking matters more than checking the GPA box.

That's a pretty terrible idea. PhD is one of the most difficult things you can undertake just to maybe end up in IB, and masters are no guarantee. My honest view? Kill it at a low ranked bank, lateral after 1.5-2 years.
