3.6 GPA from Target in Engineering

Am currently a sophomore with a 3.6 GPA at a top target school with grade deflation (think MIT/Princeton/UPenn) in a technical engineering major that wants to get into IB. My GPA excluding first semester freshman year is a 3.95. Had an immediate family member pass away first semester and struggled a bit. How much will this affect me when applying for summer internships, specifically for BBs and EBs and do you think it would be smart to have a side-note on my resume that I had 3.95 for 2/3 semesters of university so far. I know a 3.6 isn't terrible at all, but I just wanted a presepective on it. Thank you.

Feel like I would have more success there vs quant. I was thinking about switching to economics because of that, but after my grades were so bad first sem, I thought my gpa would look better if i stayed in my much harder original major.

if you’re smart, do quant brotha. more money and a solid skill set. You will be surrounded by a lot of low iq folks in IQ but the trade-off is that they will have better social skills
