A bit of help...

Hi there,

I realize this is a forum for mainly university students/analysts already in investment banking. However, I'm a high school student in Grade 11, and my average so far is 95-96, with my 99 in Accounting.

I live in Canada, and I want to go to a tier 1 undergrad business program when I graduate, think Schulich (York University), Queens Commerce, or Richard Ivey. Yeah, I'm on student council, golf team, cross country, part time job, etc. What would be some of the advice that you would give me? I already landed a volunteer position at a law firm because my dad knows a partner there so I'll be job shadowing/volunteering there, as well as with Heart and Stroke and Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

I don't want to get into law, but I thought I'd take the opportunity since it is an office environment, and business can be related to law, especially finance. I also have a strong interest in finance, going as far as reading some university texts from the library like corporate finance.

I know you're thinking I'm nuts or something like that, but do you have any advice that you can offer me? How do you like being an investment banker?

Thanks for any replies... I really appreciate your time!

you might want to check out a college board for more info on this, like talk.collegeconfidential.com or something like that. all you can find here is what schools you should be looking at, with a bias toward US schools. and for that, use the mighty search button :)

if you are considering US schools

Harvard - b/c its Harvard

Princeton/Columbia/NYU-Stern - location, more companies in NYC.

Also, if you are set on starting early. As a freshman, unless you have connections, you are not getting into a big name, NYC has a lot of boutiques, they might take you
