Adding Switches to a Model
How do you add things like case switches or a circuit breaker to an excel model? Was trying to practice modelling and couldn’t figure it out. Thanks!

Case switch is using =OFFSET, rareliquid has model building videos on YouTube that shows how it works. Ex look at his Nvidia DCF valuation Live video at 1:06:00. idk about circuit breakers

You need to add a circuit breaker / circularity switch to avoid your model blowing up with #REFs beyond repair. This usually affects interest, as the interest payment is based on the average debt balance during any given year, which creates said circularity as the payment affects the cash flow which you would use to pay down debt. Hence, designate a cell in controls as switch, name the cell “circ”, and then add before any interest item in the debt waterfall =if(circ=0,previous year end balance debt*interest rate,average(starting balance,end balance)*interest rate)

No need to add a circuit breaker. Instead, simply CTRL + F, find and replace all "=" with "=".
This action refreshes all formulas and essentially has the same impact as a circuit breaker.
