Advice for actually getting a Spring Week

Hello there,

Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere. I looked at the FAQ about London IB and was kind of left with my d*** in my hand trying to find an answer to this. I was wondering what experience I would need to actually land a spring week offer. I'm currently in Year 13 with an offer to study Finance at a semi-target. I understand (correct me if wrong) that spring week offers are given on a rolling basis so it would be advantageous to apply as soon as applications open. What I'm stumped about is that as a fresher who's just entered Uni, surely my CV will be a bit bare. Is there a big emphasis on work experience within finance when recruiting for spring weeks? If so, where's the best place to look while I have time.

Thank you (and sorry for any naivety or brashness I may give off with this question)

In my experience they don't really value relevant work ex for spring weeks; you'd honestly be surprised how random the selection process is. Most of the people I did mine with last year (incl. myslef) had little to no relevant work experience and did random degrees.

I think relevant experience does play a role. I would suggest getting involved in uni societies and especially trying to get mentorship/help from people that did well with their spring week applications (you can get to know them through societies).

also make sure all the basic boxes are checked: perfectly formatted/phrased cv, non-generic cover letter, do well in tests (try practice before with the practice platforms) and application timing

besides that a lot is due to luck and also whether interviewers like you
