Advice on breaking into IB

I know this topic has already been discussed to death on this forum, but I'm really in need of help and I have no one irl to turn to. As some context, I'm a rising sophomore at a fairly competitive university (Ranked ~10 in the US) and I had my sights set on medical school until fairly recently. I'm interested in the financial industry (especially IB & VC) and would love to work in a healthcare oriented team or firm. My resume is rife with medical/research experiences, but the only financial role I've had thus far is a bookkeeping/accounting stint for a small business. Currently, I'm just working to build skills in financial modeling and excel, while looking for internship roles.

I was specifically wondering what internships would genuinely help land an IB intern role, and which experiences (e.g. Business Analyst, Market Analyst, Finance interns, Investment management, valuation, etc) are better than others. In addition, what potential roles would it be possible for me to land with my limited experience.

I've also seen several IB/modeling paid programs being advertised which seem to offer a good starting experience. Obviously these aren't ideal but would taking part in these be recommended?

Do you think I'm in a good/okay position to pursue IB, and what might you do in my shoes? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
